Im trying to install a tool on a MY15 and I am getting errors | 4 August, 2021

I am trying to install an A12 tool on my MY15 and I get the following error:

"F-TLMN-9: Failed preliminary fetch during installation" I looked it up and it says Operator error and that the tool is missing. The tool is in the tray and the MY15 picks it up but it doesn't know it has the tool. Can Anybody help?

Seem like sensor failed to detect the tool is fetched. You might want to try to clean the inside barrel of the fetch tool. Use the foam swab, to clean it. If it's a spring loaded tool that you trying to install, you have to make sure the top of the tip do pop up and it's clean. You would get false reading too if the sensor unable to sense the tip "pop up" section.

Tom I did as you instructed but same results so I actually changed the harness that has the two sensors (LED and RECEIVER) on the Z motor with a new spare I had hoping that was the problem. Alas that didn't solve it either.

Any other suggestions? I appreciate your help. Tom

The last time I work on the Mydata machine was like over 15years ago. Sorry, I couldn't provide much more help than what I could remember so far.

Including non-spring tools ?

Additionally I assume you know how to use the tool install utility and have looked for things like cracks in the big ribbon cables on the X ? Tools are not dry and have white grease on them etc ?

There is a show force sensors menu somewhere that will show you the state of the emitter and detector in the tool pipe. When you manually put a spring tool in the Z the sensor state should change when you push up on the spring loaded tip.

Did you grease the tool o-rings? If they are too dry, the head won't slide onto the tool. Also, make sure the tools are flat in the tray. I'm assuming that you aligned on the center of the tool. And, try cycling the non-spring tools, like A24, to see if you get the same error.

Unfortunately all my tools are spring loaded. Yes I do know the tool install utility. I have been running and maintaining the 3 MyData machines for over 20 years and I never saw an error like this. I grease our tools once a month so I know that is not the issue. I will inspect the ribbon cables on the x wagon today. I don't know where the force sensor menu is so if someone knows please let me know. Thanks for helping. Tom

Hit the space bar when the tpsys menu comes up when booting .

There is something in there that says show transducers. I think that's where you will find z-force sensor

It seems to me that something is out of calibration. I noticed that you were reinstalling TPSys. Did this start after the reinstall? Did you restore a backup of your parameters, or recalibrate the machine with new values? Try changing the tools to "not spring loaded" (don't remember the exact wording). The selection is in the Tool Parameters. See if that fixies the error. The machine should be able to run with that setting.

It's been awhile, but, some other things you might look at: - Check the fiducials on the toolbox. If they're getting obscured/damaged, all kinds of weird things can happen. I had problems initializing tools one time because of this, and I could actually get tools picked up. - Check the wires going into the head connected to the sensor. Clean up inside the head. - Check/replace the sensor. - Check the vacuum system lines. - Check the Z-travel. - Check the centering jaws (if you have them on this head), especially if the tool is getting picked up but not fully initialized.

If it's happening with all of the tools in the toolbox, you're likely looking at something machine side. If I remember correctly, the sensor cable plugs into a board somewhere around the head, as always, check cables/connectors.

Cheers, ..rob
