Hello, SMT "forumers"; I have joined a company making electronic board and the storage of stencils used in SMT process is a big problem for us; paper and cardbox is not accepted by quality as is may cause contamination; ESD bullpack is too expensive and not enough strong; I am looking for your advice about what manufacturer or seller has this kind of covers see the photos attached. Thanks for help.

We receive our stencils in cardboard sleeves with hangers. No contamination issues that we have noticed.

Hi there, we recently bought a storage cabinet vom ASM for 96 stencils (DEK VectorGuard).

There is a shelf type cabinet vom Becktronic, where you can store up to 360 stencils.

I grabbed a nice storage solution from Bliss industries. Think I can fit 165 29x29 VG foils.

Space saver frame takes same space as Vector Guard.

"Space saver frame takes same space as Vector Guard."

I believe this is the case if you store the VG foil in a box, otherwise the VG should be thinner than the space saver.

Correct. The box size is the same as the space saver frame. VG rack is additional expense as well as supporting the VG frames. I have done VG for 5 years and never going back to it. Space saver is the better way.

In your opinion, and for your use case that may be true. I happen to disagree.

Our VG stencil boxes are 10-12mm thick, I can buy VG stencils from just about anyone as well as compatible "improved" variants like Optiguard. They are affordable, and I have never damaged one, neither have I damaged perforated foil Genesis stencils, or myself one one, from Tecan. (and you can store several of those in a 12mm box ;) )

Surely you still need to store your space saver frame in a box- adding ~6mm to its thickness?

None of my normal suppliers makes so much as a mention of "spacesaver" frames. Is it a trademarked name & licence protected system? The only UK supplier for instance to my Google-fu is Datum Alloys unless there are other names for the same thing.

The most annoying thing about these boxes I have encountered is that nobody seems to want to keep using the same box and the same hook for more than about 5mins, some are easy to open, some make it easy to drop the setncil straight of the bottom and some have lovely velcro fastenings and fold/open in all the places you would want.
