Lead Cleaning

I am looking for a way to clean solder off of QFP packages. I'm thinking a chemical method would be easy, as long as the chemistry doesn't attack the leads themselves, or the package. Any suggestions?

I have a customer, who is component manufacturer. They have some component lead, base metal is alloy42 coated with ~20 micron of copper, then further coated with ~10 micron of Sn/Pb. They want to remove the Sn/Pb coating. We tried some nitric acid base cleaner, Alpha Metals PC1111Z, and cleaned the component lead at ambient conditions for 2 - 3 min. From EDX and cross-section analysis, we found the Sn/Pb layer was completely removed, but not the copper layer.

Hope this information useful to you.
