| | | | | | Any suggestions on how to maintain Adhesive dispensing nozzles??? They seem to plug up over night and it is starting to get on my nerves. We have tried leaving the nozzles in the machine, removing them and soaking in alcohol, blowing them out with compressed air, and even sacrificing chickens to no avail. Is there a solution that will dissolve the adhesive (Loctite 3609 chipbonder). | |
| | Deon Response: | | | Hello Mike, | I would suggest removing the nozzles as you did at the end of your production and leaving your nozzles soaking in 50-50 solution of MEK (Methyl Ethyl Ketone) and Alcohol. Use a sealed glass jar to keep these in. Also make sure your nozzles do not have any plastic or soft rubber parts. This solution is very aggresive and will disolve any soft materials including that sticky adhesive. Try this, see if it helps. | | Regards, | | Deon Nungaray | SMT Manufacturing Process Engineer | General Monitors USA CA | Hey Mike,
READ THE MSDS on MEK before you do anything.......NASTY stuff. I used to use it before the MSDS stuff was popular; this stuff will turn potting compound into jello. If memory serves me, it's a carcinogen, to boot. You do NOT want to bring the material into your facility if you don't have it already.....the waste stream nightmare begins.....
Why don't you get a list of the solvents / cleaning solutions you currently have resident in your waste stream, and run it by Loctite for the application?
