Bench marking Wave Solder | 23 April, 1999

Hi everybody,

I would like to bench mark the quality out of our wave soldering m/c as far as DPPM levels are concerned. Can somebody provide me with some figures at their site or anywhere else for the same.

Thanks Upinder ======

| Hi everybody, | | I would like to bench mark the quality out of our wave soldering m/c as far as DPPM levels are concerned. Can somebody provide me with some figures at their site or anywhere else for the same. | | Thanks | Upinder | ====== | We are running mixed technology boards. No actives on the solder side, but 1206's, 805's and SOT-23's. Through hole pitch is 100 mil centers.

We run an Electrovert Econopak Plus, with 3 convection preheats, nitrogen, rotary chip wave, and hot gas debridging knife. We use a USI Opti-Flux fluxer with Alpha NR 310-B VOC-free no-clean flux.

Our DPM at final inspeciton last month was 1. Our DPM at ICT was 8, for a grand total of 9 DPM. We generate between 30 and 40 million joints per month off this system in a 10-shift week.

Our data is provided by an on-line data collection system where operators scan the bar code of the assembly and enter the defect data. Our quality department crunches the queries and publishes reports at the end of the month.

Hope this info helps.
