1. The capital equiptment depreciation write-off is worth more than the machine itself. 2. The tax write-off for a donation to the artificial reef program is worth more than the machine! 3. Scrap steel is worth about 3 dollars a cubic yard. Yes, again, worth more than the machine.

Sorry for the delay in this response due to travel but feel compeled to express the following. The Quad100 series started production in 1984 to address the Hybrid industries and New SMD low volume requirements. Several major corporations purchased these units as a basis to develop SMT process and produce low volume boards. The QS100 was one of few pick & place robots produced in the United States and successfully competed for the market share against the flood of imports. Over 600 units sold worldwide with greater than 50% still in production. The value of these units is greatly reduced but yet still continues to be resold and perform low volume production for an array of applications. The QS100 has carved a notch in SMT history and many are thankful that a low cost pick & place was available to help launch this industry. This forum produces a source for the best positive SMT feedback I have seen in the past 10 years. I just think negative comments regarding any equipment can be presented in a positive light. Regarding the estimated value of a QS100 with adhesive dispensing I can confirm recent sales of $5k to $10k. Regards, Russell Bartley |
