I am begining to evaluate hi speed chip shooters. We are interested in the Panasonic MV2E. Does anyone have any experience with the turret style placement equipment, Panisonic in particular. Thanks, Jeff

For turret machines, you should consider the Fuji FCP643, it may cost more but the benefits are well worth it.

They have an excellent machine and you would be short changing yourself if you didn't consider it. There was an article in the SMT magazine about Lucent Power sytems in Mesquite, they use nothing but Sanyo in Board Mounted power. If you want, I can give you some names of people to talk to in depth.

I'd send your product to each chip shooter company (Fuji, Sanyo, Pana). This way you can find out each of the vendors cycle time and capability of the machines. They are not all alike just because they have a turret. Investigate before you make your decision.

Jeff, my experience with both turret-style placement machines and split-axis type machines is that the turret-style generates a higher placement rate than that of a split-axis style. The fact that the axes are integrated under a fixed placement site generates the speed needed to deem itself "hi-speed". The split-axis where the x-axis is generally the head moving over a table covering the y-axis just doesn't get the job done if your goal is 30,000+cph. Basically, I don't think I've seen or heard of a split-axis machine going over 20,000 cph and turret-style machines do these numbers normally. I believe one of the follow-ups to your post had the best advise. Send your product to the manufacturer and let them evaluate it. Don't think the advertised numbers are what you're getting, you'll be disappointed. Many companies make good machines, some make great machines, and some make terrible machines. Good luck.

Hi Jeff,

I didn't have experience with Pansert MV2-E, but I have MV2-F. The machine running in high speed, but very noisy. I have other machine Sanyo TCM-3000 Same speed with MV2-F. Sanyo is original design turret system, a stable mounting machine, very minimize niose with new Cam system and get thruogh put more than Panasert. When I run side by side same product in both machine. Panasert had a lot of mechanical part need a lot of maintanance. Last year I spend spare part of Panasert MV2F higher than Sanyo TCM-3000. Sanyo have a good software and a lot of feature allow us to modify and change. Talking about the recognition system, Sanyo fully vision gray scale recogintion system, but Panasert used both binary & gray scale. Then accuracy of Sanyo is better. Cost & Service, you need to evaluate from your site. I think you need to evaluate IC placer machine too. Panasert have MPA-V fast & good accuracy machine. But I didn't like Pansert stick feeder. A lot of trouble to me. Sanyo have new TIM-5000 with Multi Stick feeder with vibration. I think is good idea if you can evaluation TIM-5000 too.
