Automatic lead placement system | 30 November, 2000

Can anyone point me in the direction of where to find some lead placement equipment. Currently we have Clip leads that come in reels with solder pre attached are currently done by hand. surface mountable leads/connectors will not do, due to board/end product design.

Major categories of pin through hole leads are: * Axial Lead Components have all of its lead wires extending from a component or module body along its long axis. * Radial Lead Components have all of its leads exiting from a common side of the body. * Odd form neither axial nor radial

Thanks for the input. I cant beleive I didnt think to check the suppliers web site, I feel like an... well anyhow.

The leads I'm referring to are place at a 90 degree angle from the edge of the pcb and extend towards the bottom as opposed to skyward. The connecting points on the pcb are copper pads that the leads "clip" on to (with some force). We then cut away the leader or bus bar that holds them together, which keeps them straight during reflow. So as not to confuse anyone, this is a double sided PCB, reflowing the leads would be the third reflow. I'm trying to get the designers to make some modifications so we can use surface mountable leads/connectors, which I see no problem in doing. But I havent seen any of the SMT pin type (12pin). Didnt mean to ramble and thanks for any input.
