Forum Home Page: What do others think? | 8 February, 1999

Thanks for the comments.

Our intention is not to make it less user friendly, just to give a quick list of top 5 messages and threads, one click away from the main 10 day listing.

Since we will be continually adding more fuctionality to the site, the presentation may not be what is preferred.

We could add a "dont show this page again" preference, that would use your smtnet.com cookie to bypass the smt_forum homepage and send you directly to the listing.

Keep in mind we are working out the bugs, and design issues, and we need your input in order to make this site the way you want it.

If the forum averages 17 or so responses a day, like it did the first five days of February, then we have to click on "See more entries," if we want to view any more than five. So if your goal is for us to see more adverts, the change will be successful for those that "click." And that's not the end of the world, if it provides more revenue and helps support the worthwhile service that SMTnet provides. Ta. Dave F

Thanks For Input, Changes Made | 9 February, 1999

Hello All,

Our crew had a skull session and we concluded that the forum home page is not a great enough benefit for regular users. Plus we dont want to replace a well known link with another page, so we replaced the Top 5 page and went back to the original current forum listing.

We do need more input from you all. If we are doing something wrong or that you dislike, please email us or post a message in the admin corner. We take every criticism seriously.

Changes will be happening at a more noticable frequency, and we do make mistakes, so please feel free to speak up.

Again, thanks for the comments.
