BGA - Damage to solder mask

BGA - Damage to solder mask | 13 January, 1999

Can anyone recommend ways of reducing damage to solder masks ... a new wick perhaps. I find that using standard wicks the imposed damage is un-acceptable.

Also any good links on the subject of bga rework would be really appreciated

in earnest ...

Pat: Stop using wick. Operators try to rush and drag the iron and wick between pads and

1 Mess-up the mask webbing between pads 2 Fill vias with solder, reducing LT reliability

Just dress the pads with your iron and get on with replacing the BGA. TTYL Dave F |
