Desoldering of TSOP and TSOJ | 8 January, 1999

HI! I am a package engineer in Korea. I have some reasons to desolder excessive solder at the lead of TSOP and TSOJ after removing them from the board. The way with solder wick is too time-consuming and depends on the operator. Does anyone know the equipment or method to do that automatically? Thanks...

Pace, Hakko, OK, and a bunch of others make these tools that either run with shop air or generate air. TTYL Dave F

TTYL Dave F | Hi: What I mean by desoldering of TSOP and TSOJ is removing the excessive solder on TSOP and TSOJ themselves after removing them from the board. Removing them from the board is possible with hot gas. The reason to remove the excessive solder and get uniform solder thickness of TSOP and TSOJ is for reuseing them... Thanks...

Hi: That's what I thought you wanted to do.

The machine that I'm talking about is a solder "sucker." It has:

1 A heated tip that melts the solder 2 A "vacuum" that draws the melted solder through a hollow tube in heated the tip 3 A chamber behind the tip with a filter collects solder residue
