can some kind of through hole type connector pass through the smt process (with IR technology)???? the temperature factor or material factor?????

| can some kind of through hole type connector pass through | the smt process (with IR technology)???? | the temperature factor or material factor????? | There's a company called Samtec (web site is www.samtec.com) who can provide these.They have a range with a cap at the top of the pin which allow's you to paste the top of the PTH hole, place the component and reflow it creating the joint required.

PTH component suppliers, nominally, expect their components to see wave solder preheat temperatures (120C), rather than reflow temperatures (210C).

Best thing to do is to get a handful of each try in your BOM, toast those puppies at reflow temperatures, and then evaluatate their post-toast performance.
