CAD Translation Help Needed

CAD Translation Help Needed | 10 November, 2000

Happy Friday To All!

Now that the social niceties are out of the way, heres the problem: We have received a CAD file for a product we are going to build with a .pcb filename extension, that our FujiCam software cant translate. The computer that originally generated the file no longer exists, the company we had purchased for this product line was sold and all their CAD equipment was liquidated. What is the native format of this file, and how can I convert it into something that we can program a CP-6 with? TIA for any help.

Hi There are a couple of options that you have: 1) have you tried to open the file using note pad, is it an ascii text format? 2)if it is a ascii file then you can edit the file by just leaving the centroid information. 3)OR call Fuji America at 847.821.2401 (the software department)and someone can verify if it can be translated. If it can not be translated then the only option is number two. I hope this helps.

As fortune might have it, many CAD mfgrs use .pcb for their files. Just for a few: Zuken Visula, Pads Power-PCB, ACT CAM-350 and derivatives.

Why not: * Read it into your present CAD system [assuming it's one that can read .pcb files] * Generate files that your Fujicam can read * Produce new place program and check its edit
