Water Soluble flux

Water Soluble flux | 7 October, 1998

Came a cross an interseting observation/question. I'll need to filter additional information and specifics to those whom may be able to assist me. But for now;

I use a water soluble base organic flux manufactured by Kester (the exact solution will be forth coming). We, who use it, have noticed a stronger then usual scent of alcohol in it's diposition. Is this NOW typical???

I've got my 'rep' visiting tomorrow (10/8 -Thurs.) but any advance information would be greatly appreciated.

PS: Any one using solder paste delivered in 600, 1,000, or 1,400 gram cartridges experiencing problems with deliveries? This is in regards to receiving the appropriate and specified type, amd NOT mixed formulas/solutions in the same delivery? Ex. Blanket order: R593 OA (Kester) -325/+500 63/37 yet receiving R596-L or R244 NC, etc?

THANKS. Eric R.

I stock inventory for my customers to provide next or same day delivery. Because I know how paste, flux and bar seem to never be there when you need them. If you are purchasing direct I would suggest trying to find a local distributor to help you out. Most mfg's of solder paste don't keep it on the shelf because of it's short shelf life. As for your IPA smell most fluxes contain quite a bit of it. You can preform a titration test to see if your flux is ok. The titration kit is also available through kester.

Hope this helps Mike
