HTML Tags! | 26 September, 1998

Why not let us use HTML 4.0 (or older) tags? This would enable us to create tables and use italics to better present information. "ALL Things Integra" is an example of a forum that supports these tags, although only myself and one other guy actually use them right now. Still a new idea?

Still a new idea? What HTML tags would you be interested in? One of the reasons it is not allowed at this time, is that some tags can be a security hazard. Like for instance, a HTML form that points to one of our CGI programs. Also unclosed tags could make the page look wrong. I would be willing to consider emphasis tags, and font tags, and maybe some others. Thanks, Cliff

Re: HTML Tags! | 13 October, 1998

Basic text tags like etc would allow one to make certain lines or words stand out for greater emphasis.

Tags like

would allow one to organize the lines and words.

Tags like

and the like would enable one to organize information into a useful chart.

I guess you would be concerned about someone using or something like that but maybe you know a way to make the forum support the non-dangerous tags. Well, that's my $.02!!

acceptable HTML tags to use in messages | 14 October, 1998

I set up the following HTML style tags for all to use:

BOLD Italics Underline

Header 1

Header 2

Header 3

Header 4

Header 5
Header 6
Font tag
Plus the following list management:
    Unordered List
    Ordered List
  • List Element
    Title
    Data

I hope that helps in making the messages more useful. There are probably many more acceptable tags. So if you want any other tags, contact me, and I'll consider it.

    Unfortunately, the

  • tag could make the page look wrong, so I haven't put it in as of yet.

Thanks! I love these things in spite of unfavorable input/output ratio. What about special characters?
