Micro BGA Sockets... | 17 September, 1998

Konichi wa "SMT-netter" sans... I've been on a fruitless search for some board mount, micro BGA sockets...I don't think they're out there yet, but I don't know for sure. Found a lot of test and burn-in sockets for CSP's (at more than $1,000 per copy! They're like little mini test fixtures) but no regular ol' board mount sockets like what you use for programmed PLCC's and stuff. Is there anything out there like that for micro bga's? There'd be some pretty grateful product design and developement engineers if anybody can come up with one... domo alligator in advance... -Steve Gregory-

Steve: You might want to contact Advanced Interconnects I know they manufacture standard BGA fixtures, but not sure about micro BGA. Advanced Interconnects, Inc. West Warwick, RI (401) 823-5200 (401) 823-8723 Fax Howard Gonzales You could also call Teka Interconnection Systems, Providence, RI Jim Zanolli (401) 785-4110. They manufacture edge connectors, but think Jim could get you connected to companies that make device sockets. Wayne

Sounds good huh??? The authors write about developing prototype emulation sockets. I'm not sure that that's what you want to buy, but ... may be they can give you a lead. Check with Frank Dudinski and Leo Vermont at Yamaici Electronics, 2235 Zanker Rd., San Jose, CA 95131 408-456-0797 fax 0799. Ta Dave F

try these companies:

Ironwood 612-431-7025 Electronic warehouse 818-982-6100

or call the manufacturer of the device directly and ask what test sockets they recommend.
