CCGA Column Repair

CCGA Column Repair | 9 September, 1998

I'm looking for information from anyone who has been working with CCGA packages & has looked into the issue of repairing bent columns - the result of mishandling, rework or MPAV's dropping them and making you panic as all of the other components are scattered into the machine by the impact. I know the maximum repariable damage is 30deg. off perpendicular and the columns can be straightened a max. of 5 times, but I don't know HOW to straighten them beyond using tweezers (which squish the columns) or a thin strait-edge (which is difficult to manipulate between the columns). Is there a machine that can do this? Or a special hand tool? Also, if a column comes off, can it be replaced onsite, or is the CCGA then expensive garbage? Thanks, Kris P.S. If you reply directly to me, please use the hotmail address shown above (below? somewhere?). I just started here & my e-mail postal server is on strike (aparently only for MY address).

Or a special hand tool? Kris, We make special hand tools for circuit repair. Take a look at our web site to see if any of the MilProbes can help you repair the columns. If not, please contact me so that we can learn more about your needs and look into a new tool. Thanks, Frank
