No Fake E-mail Please | 25 August, 1998

To All, We have found several fake e-mail addresses on the Forum, most of them from one individual. We hereby announce that the following addresses are fake: hello@smtnet.com hi@smtnet.com astounded@smtnet.com thrilled@smtnet.com The SMT Forum and all of SMTnet is geared toward professional use only. Your correct name and email address will allow other SMTneters and the SMTnet staff to communicate with you outside the Forum. While most other non-professional forums do not check or care if you place a "fake" name or email, we do. We are especially offended that an individual provided the above listed fake e-mail addresses @smtnet.com. Besides taking up our server resources, these fake addresses are an infringment to our reputable name. We understand your need to protect your e-mail address from being mis-used. We are considering offering an e-mail service @smtnet.com to allow you a new mailbox designated to your SMTneting use. Meanwhile, please consider setting up a free e-mail box with one of the providers such as yahoo, excite, etc. Would you use a mail service if SMTnet offers one? Please e-mail me or post to the Admin Corner if you have any comment or suggestions. We appreciate participation from all of you and cooperation from most, most of you. Thanks, Cunli

Cunli: All of us are upset with certain people that would take advantage of SMTNet! There are a few of us that visit the forum on a daily basis and appreciate everything you and your staff have provide for us. Plus, we sincerely appreciate the quick responses to any comments made in favor of or complaints about the structure of the forum. There is little that we can do to stop people from using improper email addresses, false names, and can only hope that the majority will maintain honesty. I for one feel receiving emails as a result of posting a message, complaint, or response to a posting is part of being involved. Keep up the great work! Wayne Bracy

So I was had by the little schnook! Well, it was a futile, but sincere exercise in bad judgement on my part. No one could have known so little about a subject. I just can't figure out why anyone would exercise such time wasting efforts especially when the answers probably were of benefit to some others needing them. It seems this person did more good than the harm possibly intended. Chalk one up for the good and the bad. Who's going to play the uuuugly? Earl Moon

Oh gosh, sounds like patronizing to me. You young guys have it made because you really get into this stuff. We did it mostly through trial and error while inventing stuff that no one would believe today. The list is long and extinguished starting with direct IR, used in the sixties era hybrid business, to real mesh screens and hand pushed squeegees, then vapor phase for leadless ceramic chip carriers on CIC/polyimide or Kevlar boards (to match TCE), and on to the "modern" era where youth rules with all the toys boys and girls could want. What's next. You'll be the ones to figure it out - with a little help from us old timers because nothing has really changed, or has it? Not for the first time, second time, or any time after that. I'm having too much fun as a bachelor. I don't think either of you guys should be talking about keeping it up. You're both probably more concerned with down or to the right. Yuk Yuk Yuk. | | | | | | | defending himself, | | | | | | | Justin | | | | | | My god, somebodies younger than me...guess I'm no longer the pup...heh | | | | | | -Ben | | | | | Heh Heh Heh, | | | | | Yup, I'm the pup. I'm almost 24. Aaaarrrggghhhh. I'm seasoned though. I've been a Process Enginerd since I was 21. | | | | | It's so much easier for us young guys, Ben. We have a ton of resources at our disposal. Makes the job a lot more fun. Think about it. There are process guys out there in their 40's who struggled through the SMT learning curve like nobody's business because they had no one to emulate. As for us, we ask a couple of questions, spend some time on the line, read goofy trade rags, and "BANG" we're up to speed. | | | | | Pretty lucky, huh? | | | | | Best Regards, | | | | | Justin | | | | | | | | Oh gosh, sounds like patronizing to me. | | | | Moonman (and who started that rumor about Justin's future X wife) | | | Well Earl got to it before I could Justin, You are right...we do have it easier, due to the Wonderful pioneers (yes that is sucking up) That have blazed the trails before us...but at the rate technology is developing these days, just think what the next 5-10 years is gonna hold for us...The trail blazing has only yet begun. | | | -Ben | | Not being terribly religious, Ahmen, and you guys will share it all with us on this forum. It don't get any better. | | Earl Moon | Gee this has turned into "As the Stomach Turns" If it wasn't for all the smart young process engineers figuring out how to handle some of these new devices, circuit board challenges, what have you, we old guys would have little to do or talk about. | Watching the stock market lately one can see that the US high tech companies seem to be holding their own, even with the world going down the tube. We ar depending on the new generation of engineers to keep it moving forward. | As for Justin getting married, no way, he will put carpet in his deer stand before he puts it in his house... | The way things are going I might have to do more fishing,,,,,,,,,,instead of working. | Wayne Wayne- Don't forget about us process techs too.... Myself, I'm not much into fishing but I'm gonna try to bag me a cougar this season. -Ben

| -Ben Huunting isn't my number one sport, so can't say much about it...just good luck. Only reason we fish so much is to give my boys some bonding time, at least that's what I tell the wife.. Wayne
