How to calcualte the capa. of smt line in high mix low volume. | 11 September, 2001

HELLO. SMTNETERS there is no company in high mix low volume system in our contry so . what is the best way to calculate the capa. of smt line in high mix low volume. & what is the general way to get the defect rate to evaluate the smt line(or smt&imt). As you know x-ray, ict, fbt, system test. & The best quality is ? ppm (%) or the goal quality in SMT LINE in high mix low volume.

in my case new model is a 30% per a year. The lot size is 20 b'ds at once . we have to produce about 200 model per month. we have smt 4line. one line has bond m/c . model change no is 12 in a day.

in addition to above. i will try to make the goal of QUALITY, CAPA. for 2002 compare to the world best company. is there anybody to give me the guide line or some information.. sorry for my ambiguous question. Thanks in advance

Some folk at Cookson in Rhode Island [US] developed software to answer questions like you appear to be asking. Cookson licensed it to some meatheads in New Jersey that made a total mess of the whole thing.

Then, Phil Zarro in New Hampshire got it and made a BIG maketing push a couple of years ago, but we've heard nothing about it lately. I just checked his site [http://www.itm-smt.com/] real quickly and nothing leaped-out at me indicating that he was still selling it.

But I'd start with Phil Zarro.

we have a SMT division, that caters to the exact scenario you depict...

Actually am also trying to determine, a system of answering "high mix, low volume" picture...

Just my humble point of view, dun think there is "best" system in the world, as a system is defined and characterized, by its company : 1) manufacturing infrastucutre 2) pool of financial resources 3) team of skilled manpower 4) management commitment to "mfg rules & regulations"
