Time to get out | 21 March, 2002

Can anyone give me a good reason to stay in this industry. I really do not want to be the last one in this forum while I see all my friends move on to other jobs, reasonable pay and security. From all I can tell it is over, there is nothing left to do but leave as quickly as possible.

If anyone has any ideas on why to stay or where to go, please let me know via e-mail.

If all you users want to keep buying used equipment, there will be nothing for us to do but give up... Oh, I know, maybe I can sell AOI equipment. You can't find that on the used market. I guess I will just join CR Tech or VI Tech and fight it out with the other couple of hundred sales persons trying to get you to buy something new.

Ummmm, from my view,

You get to play with some cool gear.

You get the high of "giving birth" when a new job roles out of the oven. (OK Ladies, don't howl me down - I know it's a lot less physically painful).

You get that lovely look of comprehension on an operators face when you show them how or why this gizmo works.

You get that lovely look of comprehension on your own face when you finally know how or why this gizmo works.

You can't talk about work at Jimbo's bar 'cause no one knows what you're on about.

When your mate at Jimbo's says "Butile, know anythink about mobile phones?" You can honestly reply "Bruce, I couldn't design a doorbell - I just run the robots".
