Mydata software upgrade | 1 July, 2002

I have a TP-series machine with 1.5 software. I want to upgrade to 1.6.18. Is it a big deal? Has anyone done this? Can anyone give me an idea about cost? Thanks

Upgrading to 1.6 is not going to buy you anything worth the effort. 1.5 to 1.6 is just a software upgrade- no hardware. If you are the original owner of the machine the software is $600 plus cost for field service engineering to install. If you are not then I'd recommend you contact Mydata. Going to 2.x envolves hardware and software and is a major improvement in the software performance. 1.x is Unix OS and 2.x is Linux OS. This upgrade is about $20K total.

The software version is actually 1.4.7 I want to be able to use the feeders with the blue buttons. I bought the machine second hand.

Yeah, you'll get the blue button functionality w/ 1.6. That protects the machine by disabling the magazine before its pulled from the machine. It tells the computer not to pick from that mag. Going from 1.4.7 is the same as going from 1.5, just software. Mydata is one equipment mfg. that requires a registration fee for non-customers. Its like $5K I believe and gets you training credits, full documentation set and possibly a field service call to inspect the machine. Otherwise I don't believe they will sell you the upgrade.
