Tey will support it but it is like pulling teeth. Do you service MyData machines?

Right or wrong, Mydata has a "second user" registration fee policy in order to recieve support. If you paid the fee then you get support. If you are a re-seller and not the end-user, that may explain the treatment you are getting. If you are an end-user, I have never heard of them denying support on a machine, even the ones they built in the 80's. Contact the director of technical services and your local Mydata rep. and give it to them- provided you've paid the fee. The Mydata design is a "future proof" platform in that all machines, even the ones built from 1987, can be upgraded to Linux OS running the latest TPsys 2.x software and can support all feeder magazines including the new Agilis. I know this as I am a Mydata rep. with 82 machines in my firm's territory.

Just curious.......

Where did you find this 7 year support rule? I always thought it was 10 (maybe thats only with auto parts, my truck is in its teens and the dealer will only go back 10 years for me). Just curious where this rule is so I know where to refer to if this happens to me.

(Serveral landmark lawsuits) One example comes from a lawsuit that involved the copy machine industry. A third party copy machine rebuilding company brought a large copy machine manufacturer to the highest court because they would not sell parts to them. Along with several other rulings in the case 7 years was set as the rule of thumb for parts support. Most in our industry go beyond seven years.

I am not being denied support. I also have no problem registering a machine to get support. I like MyData machines. I would like to see the wtitten policy.

No company can deny service to any company that has a machine. If they require a company to register a used machine to get support any company can register it. Weather they are a user or reseller. The big three have looked into this with much time , money and care. If they did not have to support every one they would not.
