The next wave

I thought this would be a good place to post to get input from the "trenches" as to what is going to be the next consumer fad? It seems like the market is in need of something new to instigate future consumption. I work for an electronic component manufacturer (crystals and oscillators) and I'm looking for the next Technological trend. Obviously there is a lot of hope in optical networking and broadband, as well as the nearly played out cellular craze. I'm looking for something more innovative, but it seems like all the designers out there are simply concerned with making things smaller, and more colorful. I am looking for input from people at the crest of the technology "Wave" as to what you think is going to be the next technology to sweep the market.
