Fuji CP642 Feeder Problems | 24 November, 2003

Hello all, We recently implemented a Fuji CP642 into one of our SMT lines. We have a TON of problems with the overlay tape sticking.I have tried everything. I have put on brand new tape covers, bought a tape cover flatness jig, and verified station one stroke length.....to no avail. I have tweaked the tape covers this way or that way to see if I can make any difference, but nothing seems to work.

Our T&R parts are typically new, so I don't think that there is any problem with the actual overlay itself being defective.

I know that we can't be the only one out there that has had this problem....

typically when i've seen this problem it is because the back of the mylar is sticky. Have you tried different parts?

Hi, I have seen this problem. Make sure that the peeler tape goes round all three pulleys as in the diagram on the feeder. Make sure the feeder clutch is oil free and not slipping. If everything is set correctly then it may be a component vendor issue.

The clutches are brand new and oil free. As I stated above we run newer components as a general rule. I see this happening across different date codes, and different manufacturers. I have tried routing the overlay tape like the diagram on the feeder, and I have also tried routing it like a CP43 feeder. No change.

Sr. Tech,

try to find a private spring manufacturer locate in your aera. The asian springs are not long life, no heating schock is done during manufacturing. Panasert and Fuji feeders usual problem each factory I visited. This is a way for you to reduce your costs. Wich country are you located?

We have had the same problem for years. The way we have fixed this is by NOT winding the cover tape the way the diagram shows. We only use the roller that is connected to the index arm.
