Hello Everyone, I am having a pin chain speed problem. The speed of the chain will slow down after start up of the oven. Example if you set the conveyer to run at 41 in/min, as the oven warms up of conveyer will slow down phycally but won't change a bit on the monitor. As you time it with a stopwatch it gets slower and slower up to 30 sec plus off time. Things that I have replaced Drive motor, speed control card + cal, oiled chains, new encoder. Can I have your ideas please. Your would think that the encoder would pick up on the change but it don't! I tested the encoder it works fine. We have 9 ovens its not like we are rookies at repairing them, but this has us running around in circle. Thanks

It could be possible that you have some gears or the clutch is slipping when the oven gets warm.

I agree with the loose parts but you can also put a O-scope where the encoder output goes into the computer to see if the signal has a lot of noise. A noisy signal can sometimes fool the input card into thinking the encoder pulses are ok.

What we are finding that the volts on the Drive motor are dropping when the oven gets hotter. As for the encoder not pick up the drop in speed, I ran the wires for the encoder outside of the oven away from everything, didn't help!!! I swapped PC's with one of the other ovens same problem. Contacted Electrovert they wasn't much help, they have never heard of the problem. Keep your ideas come I am willing to try anything

A couple of questions for You. How old is this oven? Does it have a history of problems? When I have seen speed variations with our Omniflow 7s it is usualy the encoder but it usually spikes rather hard in one spot. You can see this physically and by watching the com. pulses in the software which does not seem to be the case with You. By chance have You checked the power supply? If it is old or getting too warm the output will drop. You could have multiple problems, the encoder should be picking up slower actual speed and asking the speed control card for more power to speed the motor up. This probably hasn't helped much, but You never know. Please let us know how it turns out for You. Good luck.
