Hey Neil: What's the deal with SMTnet loading so slow for the past day or so? Is Brian D hacking you again?

Poor Neil's in there sweating bullets, trying to scrub the hackers from the site, not even taking time to restock the Casco Bay in the frig, and here I am "Oh, Neil, please speed-up the site."

The site seems pretty responsive this morning. Hopefully it was just a little hiccup. I shortened the timeout period so I will get notified more quickly if it happens again.

Bright and early, it was blisterin'. Now it's zzzzzzz.

Here's the interesting [to me] part: * When I first click on SMTnet, it's white screen and a 1/2 blue bar -- for like a minute. * When I get bored and go someplace else and then return, it loads-up slick.

Are you getting pounded with a denial of service?

That's odd because usually the server won't deliver anything (including the blue bar) until the whole page is ready. so it would be white page .... then bam - the whole thing loads.

I don't see anything that would indicate dos attack. I will be keeping a closer eye on it today, though.

Neil: SMTnet is loading much better today. What ever you did helped. [Or maybe it was me deleting a trojan from my computer.]

Yeah, those things will really bring a computer to a crawl. I know, I've had it happen to me before.

Really??? You were hacking me, but only when I was using SMTnet. Wow, that's one shrewd hacker.
