QS9000/TS 16949 Production Software Control | 28 June, 2004

Our company is transitioning to TS16949 this year from QS9000. We've begun to wrestle with the subject of improving the control of our production machine programs without creating unneccessary signoff's/documentation. Does anyone have a suggestions on an effective system? How have you seen this accomplished? Thanks in advance, John S.

We consider machine programs to be work instructions [WI]. [An instruction (or work instruction) is a prescribed series of activities, usually directed to a very specific area or process. Generally, an instruction may be done by one person.] Anyone can write [author] a WI. The next level of supervision from the author approves the WI. Hand written changes to a WI can be used, if approved by the original author and the next level of supervision.
