Hi all

We are in the market for a Automatic Screen Printer and have our minds set on either a DEK?? or a ERKA E4?

Can anyone tell me the pros and cons between the two and there proferred?

This is for a high mix medium volume line...

Thanks Mark H

Hi there,

I have been using DEK's of all types over the past 9 years, with a few SMTech's and MPM's thrown in for good measure.

I personally would recommend using DEK, they may seem expensive, but i find that worth the cost with the good support we have been given in the past.

If you can get away with not using the form-flex tooling that they have designed DO SO! its the worst system that they ever had the misfortune to design, and its still not right. This can be easily compensated with the mechanical tooling pins they supply.

There is a fair good selection of second user machines on the market, the newer machines do have many flaws as the older 265's and the expensive repairs to Euro step and controller boards, but its the ARCOM PSU that frequently fails (av 6-12 months) which eats a capacitor, so you can either get on for a few and solder it on yourself or pay 400 for a new one!

But in summery i would definately recommend the DEK despite the above.

Let us know what you choose! Simon

MPM kick's butt on both in terms of accuracy, repeatability and durability. What more would you want?

And there's nothing wrong with Chevy's. Didn't mean to insult anyone.

Hi All

Thanks for your interesting replies :)

At this stage I feel that we are leaning towards a second hand DEK 265 GSX vs a new EKRA E4 or X4, and with the saving made we will get it well refurbish and add a board loader, and hopefully a proflow head?

Thanks again Mark H

Dek is the best machine for me.They have excellent support and the best features. However, if you are having problem with cost you get the Ekra. I know they sell it cheap as few buys it.

The MPM's are the Yugo's. You can fix anything on it with duck tape and a rubber band. I would go with the DEK. They are user friendly and reliable. Just make sure that if you are running double-sided boards to look into good push-up pins. They have new "grid locks" that use air and are wonderful. Megan
