Hi everyone. I need ideas on how to organize all my stencils. We have over 300 and it takes so long to find then for a job. I was wondering if anyone had ideas?

Bob,

I don't have 300 stencils only about 83 so my way might not be practical for you. This is what I have done. 1. I have racks that hold 20 stencils, 10 top 10 bottom. 2. Number the racks and have them in order. 3. Made a number system for location. Rack #, Top/Bottom, Slot #. (ie 01110 is rack #1, Top, Slot #10) 4. Assigned each stencil a unique storage location per above. 5. Placed this location on the machine set-up sheet and the stencil. 6. Trained the Operators how the system works and to return stencil to proper location. 7. This system allows the operators to get within 20 stencils immediately, then quickly to the proper one.

we have more than 130 stencil we , also use racks than old 25 stencil the printer program has the same value than the stencil. for example see dek.com for racks.

You Need a phase out program for your customers products. Otherwise you end up in stencil hell! Additionally, our smt team uses an access database to find what they need.

Customer, assembly,revision, side = rack # and slot number.
