SMT PWB Reflow Process

SMT PWB Reflow Process | 21 April, 2005

How many times can I reflow SMT components such as SMT Ceramic Chip Caps (0603 and 0805), Res Caps, TSSOP's, SOIC's Tant Caps etc?

Will I have a problem exposing them 4 to 6 times of reflow? Will I damage them? What will go wrong with that process?

Look at your component datasheets. Most specify # of reflows & max temps. Most discretes are only rated for 2 or 3 reflows max.

Why do you need so many reflow passes ?

i suggest not more than 3 too.

if u r runnin more than 3, do electrical test..and look for visual changes
