Maximum PCB width

I have a Universal GSM. Does anyone know the maximum width, between the conveyor rails, that a PCB can be. The GSM had an "Axis PWC error", which I think is down to the board width being too wide. This time I was able to halve the board width from 280mm to 140mm and it worked ok after that.

On the GSM, the board width is usualy 18" maximun. But there's a lot of possibility depending if you have a PTF or where's yours changers and the block #

Forgot to put in the above:

508mm is the Max but, the machine has to be configured for it. You didn't state how the machine is configured so I responded with the max width most GSM's are capable of.

How do you find out what it is configured to, and change it. Why would it be lower than its maximum capability?

Things that lower the maximum Board width:

Nozzle changers, dual lane vs single lane, staged vs classic board handling, PTF, Comp Shuttle.

Moving the changers into the feeder banks will increase your max avail width provided a shuttle or ptf are not installed.

Hi Grant,

You'll need to move the nozzle changer on your machine if you want to run very big boards, it comes out quite easily.

(It's single track & not set up for RAM or PTIF, no shuttle & standard handling)

Cheers,

Rob.

Rob, Do you mean move or remove?

Depends on how many nozzles you will need for the larger board - if its 8 or less (4 per head) then you can take it out. You shouldn't have too many problems with this as with your setup you have one for small stuff & one for big stuff.
