Don't have the manual (which is useful!) but suspect thats what the problem is. Anyone know where I could get a manual for an MPM Corporation AP-27 printer, can't find the company's website in Google.

The fids do not need to be in the same place, but it is much easier to get good alignment if they are. It will become trial and error if they are different.

I don't know how your printer could match the board's alignment to the stencil if they aren't. If you don't have fids on both board and stencil that match you'd have to use pads, but then you've got apertures thrown in to the mix.

If that's the situation, make sure you clean often (I hope you have a vacuum wiper on that machine) so that paste in the aps doesn't affect the alignment.

Just my take based on EKRA experience, but I'm assuming they all use similar arrangements for vision alignment.

Yes, They do have to be the same. If not you'll have to put in some ridiculous offsets. If they are not located in the same place (as mentioned earlier) use 2 pads that are off by themselves (if possible) and increase wipe frequency, because your stencil "fid" will get dirty.

Thanks for your help. I have resorted to using pads as the PCB doesn't have fids particularly close to the stencils fids. All previous jobs have had fids in the same place on the stencil as the PCB. The printer has a wiper paper which I have set to every 3 prints... see how it goes.

It is harder to find the same pad on the stencil as the PCB as they don't have circuit refs next to them!!, so thanks for the sarcastic comments "??"
