conformal coating

The good old days weren't all that bad. When I needed to have a specification callout for a conformal coating on an engineering drawing, I just used MIL-I-46058, type UR (for example), and the drawing checkers were quite happy. Since MIL-I-46058 has been cancelled with no replacement, what to do? I couldn't find an IPC equivalent to MIL-I-46058 (that is one that has a 'QPL' associated with it. What do I put on my drawing notes and parts list?

Do the conformal coating vendors qualify to IPC-CC-830? With military contracts what should be called out on the drawing?

Many companies use IPC-CC-830B as a replacement for the deactivated MIL-I-46058 conformal coating standard.

Curtiss-Wright uses MIL-I-46058 at present. Any suggestions on how to approach engineering and update the drawings for new contracts?

Alternatives are: * DSCC Columbus continues to maintain the QPL for MIL-I-46058C. [Engineering is unlikely to change.] * Use International Electrotechnical Commission Standard, IEC 61086 - Coatings for loaded printed wire boards (conformal coatings)
