Yeah, looks rather similar on the outside to the 5 we nearly purchased. Wouldn't mind having a nose inside one of these for a little game of spot the difference.

We recently took on distribution of DekTec in the USA, that is to say we market, sell and service the gear. The notion that all equipment coming from Asia is cheap is a misconception. Many of Dektec's current customers are names we know as tier one OEM and CEMs. Many of our long held favorite brands {Heller, Universal et al..} are now made in various parts of Asia. Building stuff of McD's HappyMeal give-away quality is not enough for supporting the world's fastest growing economy (be it flawed as it is).

So maybe they are actually building better and better stuff, heck: it could even be plain good stuff. They too know that building crap will get them nowhere.

Wanna beat them: look at what they're doing and do it better (that's how they're doing it...) and don't say that's impossible, you'd be declaring yourself a sorry looser if you did. Face it, accept it and deal with it! (or be a redneck hardliner and don't buy anything that's completely or partly chinese... now there's a challenge!)

Hey Rob,

Glad there's more people in this world that are (finally) waking up to reality. 1) There's simply no point in trying to ignore/exclude an economy that will soon be larger than our own. 2a) If you can't beat them, join them (invest in Chinese Mfg.: they get rich? So do you!) 2b) If you can't join them, beat them (outclass them) 3) Don't start crying when someone else is beating you at your own game (capitalism) 4) Don't start changing the rules of your own game when someone else is starting to play it better (protectionist import-taxes)

In other words: don't be a dinosaur, there's a reason they became extinct...

Also look at the Chinese labour rate trend & the exponential growth in spending on luxuries (Cars, consumer goods etc.) At this rate we'll be their sweatshop in the next 10-15 years.

I am not sure what their plan is for Europe but can make enquiry. All the Chinese suppliers are trying and will probably adopt an Asian model. That means there will be many points of entry and a few major distributors covering sales and service.

The reality of China is way greater than anyone in high government is admitting. As the purchasing power increases the ROW diminishes and the supply and demand economic cost bases takes on a life of its own. Technologically they become exposed earlier in the game as product life cycles diminish and ultimately you have a well educated, strong, wealthy T-Rex. The dinasaur is back but now he wears cotton and speaks two languages... It is largely for these reasons useing lower cost equipment and keeping some % of manufacturing here in a cost effective manner is so key. Need some more coffee..A.
