Does anyone else encounter problems using feeders to handle caps that are reeled up with paper tape. We are having alot of problems with vendors that are now using the thicker type (like cardboard) to use to reel up caps. Our feeders either run too slow or just stop working. We currently use quad feeders to handle these.

5v or 12v feeders.....and are you sure the parts fit through the feeders and are not getting jammed. On some of the old feeders you had to remove the springs and other parts to make the tall caps work....

We are also experiencing problems with this thick stiff paper tape. Our problem is the strength of the spring that supports the tape at its pick position. After a while it just pushes it down because the tape exit wants to bend the tape too sharply and it can't. I wish I had a machine that cut off the excess tape like Fuji do (or used to). I have found that KEMET has the worst as far as stiffness. The thickness itself presents no problem for us.

I wouldn't say we've escaped either - Fuji blade wear is heavily up at the moment.

Yes I would have to agree Kemet is the worse. I believe our feeders are just not strong enough to handle the thickness of the tape. It seems to need alot of force to move and to roll the tape through.

Both show 1.1mm. I've used Murata as a comparison as they ship the largest volume of chip caps in the world.

EIA-481-B Max tape thickness 1.1mm (not including bottom and top cover tapes which can be .1mm max each) Of course a 1.1mm thick piece of steel will be stiffer than a 1.1mm thick lasagna noodle (already cooked). Is the thickness the issue or is it the stiffness?
