All,

Current supplier of Solder bar charges for Pot Analysis to be carried out. 60 a go.

They say that they get charged so they pass it on, With the imminent change over to leadfree this rule still applies.

Anyone know of a Lab etc. in Ireland that carries out the samples at a more competitve cost?

Replies appreciated.

That's weird. I send samples to be analyze for free to AIM...A few years ago, we used Kester solder bars and they did the analysis for free as well...

Thanks, George

AlphaMetals also performs this for free if you are a customer.

I would ask your supplier how they feel about you using another product so you can take care of this. That usually gets the cost waived. There is not a lot of qualification required or needed in switching solderbar Mfgrs.

We manufacture solder and dont charge, so agree with the others and change elsewhere just make sure you are changing to better material if unsure stick with what you have and pay for it under duress. Cheers Greg York BLT Circuit Services Ltd England

Guys,

I have told the Rep. that their are customers in the UK getting free analysis samples carried out but he still insists that this is not the case.

I have managed to get 50% for 2006 calender year ,I suppose I will just have to put up and shut up as I am carrying out the changeover next weekend.

Thanks for all the replies.
