i am getting a lot of dimension variation in some chip parts (like coils). Using Panasonic MVII-F chip shooter, I am inspecting the part with transmissive lighting (back ligth)centering with the square shape of the part. I attempted to trick the machine and set up a package (PD) for this part with reflective ligthing so it will center the part with the leads (code 52, or an SOP with one lead on each side). I did this expecting the algorithm to be more permissive regarding size variation. But it didn't work, perhaps because of the dullness of the lead. Is it possible to define an sop with one single lead on each side like I did? If so, is it possible to vary the intensity of the reflective ligth? I'd appreciate your help.

Long time, no see Doc. If you want to use an SOJ algorithm you can probably get away with manipulating the height of the part to get the lighting to refract in the areas you need to. Beware of parts parachuting if you adjust to much, although you should have a wide placement tolerance with a coil.

That's just my opinion, I could be wrong!
