Soltec Parts - cheap?

I know exactly what you are going through. One example, I needed a flux pump assembly. Vitronics price, about $1000.00. Going through the OEM (Fluid-O-Tech) the same assembly was $218.00.

Oh and God forbid that you actually have to call Vitronics and to talk to the parts guy. He could use some serious training on people skills.

How about muffin fans.....30 or so dollars for a sleeved bearing fan (from vitronics)....when you can go to rodale and get the fans for around 15 or so dollars and you get the better ball bearing fans (that should have been used in the first place).

We have sold Soltec 4G1-105 V solder fingers for $9.95 others are available. The filter that you mentioned with the too coarse screen, could a finer screen be installed in it? Never had anything to do with Soltec so I cannot comment on their service. However. You must realise that machine manufacturers/distributors incur a cost in storing spare parts and making them available for immediate delivery. They are not held on consignment from the OEM. This is why there will be a mark up in price from the OEM's price. That part could have been sitting on a shelf for 6 years, is no longer supported by the OEM and you want it yesterday. They have paid their two bits for the part six years ago and they quite rightly expect a mark-up for the cost of storage, stocktake and catalogue of that part for six years. They could have also spent that two bits elsewhwere and made a profit on it. You are also lucky that you can get the parts from an OEM. One pick and place manufacturer in particular is noted for using non standard parts from their OEMs that are proprietary and licensced to them only. Even the OD nut size in the rail extrusions cannot be purchased over the counter. The OEM has them but will not sell them to you for the love of money. It's up to you to decide what is a reasonable mark-up. You may be surprised sometimes that if you let a distibutor know of the availability of OEM parts they will source them from that facility rather than paying the original machine manufacturer exhorbinant prices that are passed on to you. The distributors may also be in the same boat as you. I'm not going into bat for these guys but.....there are often two sides etc.
