Panasert SPF XL problem

Our solder paste machine has a squeegee problem. After passing over a board, the squeegees don't go all the way back up to their origin state. Then we are getting a timeout error and have to return the machine back to its origin (manually), and pass the boards using the sub controller. Does anyone know what fault could cause this?
