patchproblem lifted lead

patchproblem lifted lead | 30 November, 1999

Hi all, a lifted lead (FP 0,5mm pitch) with a wire soldered to it needs proper protection against tear off. What kind of coating is appropriate, should be dispensable and fast drying.

Thanks in advance

Hello Wolfgang Try looking in the process guides section of Circuit Technologies web site. Their recomendation is to bond the jumper wire to the board within 6mm of the lead with hot melt glue, cyanoacrylic glue or adhesive dots. John Thorup

I have used Loctite, RTV3145, or Tak-Pak to secure the wire. As John said, the wire is usually secured to the board near the lifted lead, and usually at 1/4 inch intervals along the way.

Hi Dave, yes messy, thats the result of trying to use the newest chips available, getting the first shot (prototype chips) and building a couple of hundred boards and than detecting that the protos do not what they are supposed to do.As our market grows the problems grow. We got to deliver them anyway.

Thanks for the information Wolfgang
