Solder Paste for .5mm pitch Repair | 9 July, 1999

Hi Carol- What you are asking for can be done. Variables you must account for include the paste viscosity, dispensing head speed, dispenser height relative to board surface, and needle size. You can use most any semi-automated system such as Camalot, PASI, etc. The target is to dispense a bead across the lands like a railroad track and be approximately the size of the land width in the perpendicular direction. We used to train and use this method extensively in fixing assmelbies by hand many years ago. Jim Blankenhorn

Good to see from you. I still owe you big time.

My problem is our Camalots are all tied up avoiding palletized wave soldering. Plus, we only rework one or two boards in twenty or so lots.

Is there some other method or system, maybe more selective and automated, that can do the job? Is there some "vision" capability available to go with something not so automatic?
