Description:

The IPC-A-610, "Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies" is the most widely used specification published by the IPC for the electronics manufacturing industry. This publication is a visual document that provides comprehensive accept/reject criteria for handling of electronic assemblies, mechanical assemblies, component installation, location, orientation, soldering, cleanliness of assemblies, marking of assemblies, coatings, laminate conditions, discrete wiring assembly and surface mount assemblies.

BEST, Inc. is an authorized IPC Training Center and offers the IPC-A-610 Certified Instructor Program. Students who complete the program are considered Class "A" Instructors and are qualified to teach the 2 day Worker Proficiency training and certification programs at their facility. Instructors are certified for 24 months, and then must attend a 16-hour re-certification class to maintain their certification status.

Worker Proficiency students will be evaluated on their mastery of the IPC-A-610 material through end-of-course tests that have both open-book and closed-book components. Students must receive an average of at least 80% combined on both tests. Upon satisfactory completion of the course, participants will receive an IPC certification that is valid for 24 months . Everyone who successfully completes the worker proficiency certification will receive a copy of the IPC-A-610 Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies.

This class does NOT include any hand soldering instruction. Please see the "Assembly" classes for hand solder training.

Topics Include:

   - Accept/Reject Criteria for the following:

   - Handling of electronic assemblies

   - Mechanical assembly

   - Component installation

   - Location and orientation

   - Soldering

   - Cleanliness of assemblies

   - Marking of assemblies

   - Coatings

   - Laminate conditions

   - Discrete wiring assemblies

   - SMT assemblies

This is a 2-day, lecture only course that teaches students the accept/reject criteria in the IPC-A-610, for all three classes of PCB assembly. Each candidate who successfully completes the Class “A” Instructor training and examination will receive the following materials to conduct worker proficiency training:

   - IPC-A-610 Instructor Guide

   - IPC-A-610 Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies

   - IPC-T-50, "Terms and Definitions

   - CD Rom with course visuals

   - 15 open book and 15 closed book Worker Proficiency exams

   - Class "A" Certificate from IPC

Why is the IPC-A-610 Training Experience from BEST unique?

Outside of the practical experience (we are a training center that does PCB rework, repair and test) and the experience of the BEST instructors we bring the following unique "twists" to the BEST IPC-A-610 experience:1. All new IPC A 610 instructors going through the certification process receive "The BUG" , an oversized electronics component which can be used on the class room to teach and bring alive the instruction.

2. Practical instruction and testing on PCB inspection. The IPC-A-610 is strictly a lecture only class. However your inspectors and instructors deal with REAL PCBs. Therefore in our classes we go through a :"hands on" inspection testing of real PCBs to see if the book learning correlates to the real world. In our class the students will inspect real boards to determine if they can find defects. (We also have a full day inspection class for those wanting to get in to the topic of inspection in depth)

What you will receive:

   - IPC-A-610 specification

   - A Student Handbook

   - IPC Certificate of Training valid for 24 months (if a passing grade on the test material is achieved)

"THE BUG" training aid to make your classes more interesting and interactive for the students
