Flex PCB Design Seminar

The course is designed to serve the needs of a broad spectrum of disciplines including product designers and developers, purchasing specialists, technology managers and material and process equipment suppliers. Engineering students can also benefit from gaining an appreciation of the technology before they enter the workforce.

Flexible circuits are arguably the most versatile electronic interconnection medium ever invented. Interestingly they are also one of the oldest and presently, though not always obvious, one of the most ubiquitous. This course will provide a compact but comprehensive review of this important and enabling technology touching on all major points of interest including an overview of flexible circuit technology, applications, implementation guidelines, base materials, design principles, manufacturing practices, assembly, test, evaluation and standards. The course will include a look at some of the newer and prospective directions for the technology including printed electronics, stretchable circuits and solder alloy free electronic (SAFE) assembly opportunities with examples.
