The Quality Engineer plans and conducts activities concerned with the quality assurance of industrial processes, materials, and products by performing the following duties.


General Responsibilities:

Strong customer service attitude and proactive approach
Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers, external customers, and internal partners
Excellent analytical and systems application abilities for process and product related data
Ability to utilize a variety of techniques to assess root cause and solve problems
Ability to manage multiple projects and/or issues simultaneously
Ability to lead problem solving investigations and continuous improvement teams
Excellent presentation and communication skills, both written and oral
Strong experience with MS Office tools, (e.g., MS Excel, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint) as well as data extraction and analysis (e.g., SQL, Access, Minitab)
Act as the liaison during customer and industry audits
Specific Responsibilities:

Effective Quality Management System execution, auditing, and process improvement
Drive quality assurance initiatives to achieve exceptional product quality and reliability with focus on manufacturing process capabilities to meet product specifications / requirements.
Implement proactive Quality Engineering and Supplier Quality processes with customer focus
Effective Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action program management through the use of FMEA, Control Plan, APQP, utilizing problem solving tools within an 8D methodology and mistake proofing in product and process design.
Effective and timely Customer Corrective Action Response management, as the primary customer quality interface - Communicates with customers providing technical support on quality issues and performance.
Provides guidance to Spartronics team on customer requirements and expectations related to the quality function.
Process data analysis, effective non-conforming material control utilizes appropriate quality tools to evaluate product and process performance such as, Pareto charts, trend analysis, statistical process control (SPC), and process maps.
Plans, coordinates and executes internal audits, and assists in coordination and management of third party and customer audits, such as ISO, UL, etc.
Act as the liaison during customer and industry audits.
Communicate with team, suppliers, and customers regarding all quality related issues
Participate in the customer return process, including failure analysis and corrective action as needed
Verify paperwork for source inspection is in order and work closely with source inspection as required
Safety:

Ensure that all assignments are performed in compliance with all applicable Federal, State, Provincial and Company safety and health regulations, and where applicable, proper personal protective equipment is utilized.


Requirements
Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electronics / Electrical) field or area of study deemed acceptable by the hiring team, or appropriate years of direct experience.
Minimum of 3 years Quality and Product engineering experience in the EMS or OEM field supporting printed circuit board assembly development and processes are preferred.
Experience developing work instructions and relative QMS procedures.
Thorough understanding of ISO 9001 requirements. AS9100 experience preferred.
Ability to function effectively in a team environment.
Effective communication skills driven by attention to detail.
Understanding of DFM and New Product Introduction process including the use of APQP disciplines.
Excellent analytical skills using Six Sigma and Lean Principles.
Good working knowledge of quality/reliability engineering statistical techniques. Self-motivated, self-managed, Ability to handle multiple projects at the same time
ASQ Certification (CQE, CQA), Certified Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt preferred.
