POSITION SUMMARY

Works with design engineers and production to develop product specification.  This position carries the final responsibility for the accuracy and completeness of all component specifications and design database readiness for the design group.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSBILITIES

  • Prepares detailed component specifications per ACDi procedures.
  • Maintains database system for preparing component specifications.
  • Creates new component library “footprints” for use in Mentor PADS, Altium, and Cadence Allegro as necessary.
  • Reviews new component library “footprints” for use in Mentor PADS, Cadence Allegro, and Altium.
  • Reviews customer inputs for discrepancies/mistakes
  • Processing ECO’s for active and prospective design projects
  • Mechanical verification of customer design input data
  • Produces fabrication and assembly documentation when primary drafter is unavailable.

SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; five years experience as a component specialist or closely related experience; or equivalent combination of education and related experience. Experience working in Mentor PADS, Altium, and Cadence Allegro.

JOB SKILLS

  • Must have detailed knowledge of all types of mechanical and electronic components, technical references, and documentation procedures.
  • Excellent personal computer skills, data base management and documentation skills are required.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office tools
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral, as well as listening skills.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Downstream BluePrint drafting toolsets a plus

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.  The employee may be required to wear protective clothing such as heel straps and a lab coat.  The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock.  The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.  All of the work will be performed indoors.
