Electronics in Harsh Environments Conference 2019 Summary

A non-profit international association of companies and individuals (totalling 4,000) involved in all aspects of advanced electronics assembly, surface mount and related technologies.

The association is dedicated to the advancement of the electronics industry through member education and interaction. Local chapters are in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Brazil, India, Israel, Malaysia, Taiwan, and China.

Educational programs, symposia, and seminars are held throughout the year in various locations in the U.S. and Canada. The SMTA produces SMTA International, a major annual conference and exhibition currently held in Rosemont, IL (Late September - Early October).

Martin Anselm, Ph.D., Rochester Institute of Technology was re-elected for a second term as President. Incumbents Julie Silk, Keysight Technologies and Robert Boguski, Datest Corporation, were re-elected and will maintain their positions as VP Tech Programs and VP Membership respectively. Fernando Rueda, KYZEN Corporation, and Patty Chonis, A-Tek LLC, have been newly elected to the Board of Directors.

SMTA Attends Summit in Support of Industry Workforce Development

Aug 29, 2022 | SMTA members and staff were among the 50 carefully-selected invitees who participated in the Future Electronics Workforce (F.E.W.) Summit held at Michigan Technological University (MTU) on August 17, 2022. Co-sponsored by Calumet Electronics and Michigan Technological University, and supported by the US Department of Defense (DoD) Industrial Base Analysis and Sustainment (IBAS) program, the summit had the goal of generating and implementing specific actions for each of the major stakeholder groups present that could ease the potentially crippling shortage of replacement technical staff in defense-critical electronics manufacturing.
