Defect Prevention Training Description:

In many companies, when a problem surfaces, we try to immediately put out the “fire”. This involves some kind of quick fix or work around to keep the process moving. Just as we find an acceptable “band aid” fix that works, another “fire” starts somewhere else and we rush to fix it – never really addressing the Root Cause of the original problem/defect.

This 2 day class will familiarize students with the basic quality concepts of Defect Prevention and Root Cause Analysis. We will review the definition of root cause, the benefits of performing root cause analysis and introduce a problem solving methodology for continuous improvement and defect prevention.

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to: Understand the importance of performing root cause analysis, Identify the root cause of a problem using the problem solving process and understand the application of basic quality tools in the problem solving process.
