New Wave Instruments offers a line of three fully-programmable PN sequence generators, designed primarily for developing and testing both DSSS and FHSS spread-spectrum communication systems. The register size, feedback taps, initial fill, and length of the linear recursive sequence (LRS) are all fully programmable. Depending upon the model, supported modulation formats include BPSK, QPSK, OQPSK (SQPSK), Gold/JPL codes, and Burst Mode for radar applications. External outputs include I and Q direct sequences, epoch strobes, and a parallel interface for driving a frequency hopper. In addition, I/O ports are provided for conveniently connecting a pair generators together in a master/slave configuration for maintaining synchronization between the two. This feature is particularly useful for transmitter/receiver applications.
