That is what the D-9, Assembl�on's new Semiconductor Component Placer, offers

The D-9 is Assembl�on�s advanced packaging placement system that can handle a wide range of semiconductor components at speeds up to 4,500 components per hour, while typical speed for flip chips is around 2,700 components per hour.

The machine is built around a very rigid, vibration-free frame for improved accuracy and long-term stability. The D-9 features a high precision H-drive robot that carries two placement heads with automatically exchangeable toolbits. The placement beam moves in X/Y direction with two phi/Z-servo controlled placement heads for accurate placement of parts, while the board and component feeders are stationary. A choice of three different transport systems enables the D-9 to handle virtually any type of carrier or substrate. Up to 50 tape feeders can be loaded on the D-9. The machine supports tape, tray, direct wafer and many special feeders. Off-line feeder changeover can be achieved by using the Feeder Trolley. An entire 25 position feeder setup can be conveniently loaded off-line, minimizing changeover time.

An industrial PC controller is running Assembl�on�s well-proven and user-friendly graphical software, based on Windows NT. The Manufacturing Information System (MIS) can be configured, which continuously gathers production data for management feedback, while the SECS/GEM interface offers remote monitoring and control ability of the D-9. Furthermore the D-9 is cleanroom certified at class 1000.
