Manufacturer

Plasmatreat is the world market leader in atmospheric plasma jet technology, a high-tech process for the environmentally friendly and highly effective pretreatment and nanocoating of material surfaces. Openair® plasma technology is now used in virtually all sectors of industry around the world, including the automotive sector, shipbuilding and the aerospace industry, electronics, solar, medical and packaging technology as well as consumer goods and textiles.

The use of atmospheric pressure plasma for the pretreatment of material surfaces is becoming increasingly important in the electronics industry. Plasmatreat systems are used today for pretreating PCBs and SMD assemblies before conformal coating, for manufacturing LEDs or in the production of media-tight electronic hybrid components in the injection molding process, to give just a few examples.

The technology currently has an estimated 90% share of the market. Openair® plasma technology also provides the basis for PlasmaPlus®, the world’s first atmospheric plasma coating process to be applied on an industrial scale, which was developed in collaboration with the Fraunhofer IFAM and awarded the Industry Award 2012 and the Josef-von-Fraunhofer Prize. Both these technologies are economically efficient. Not only do they cut down on process steps and reduce operating costs, they also significantly increase throughput and product quality.

Founded in 1995 as a start-up, under the leadership of CEO and managing partner Christian Buske Plasmatreat has evolved into an international medium-sized company group in just a few years. Today Plasmatreat Group is globally represented with technology centers in Germany, the USA, Canada, Japan and China as well as subsidiaries and sales offices in 35 countries. The company has ISO 9001 certification and around 50% of the employees are technicians, engineers and scientists. As much as 12% of its turnover is invested annually in research and development. Plasmatreat collaborates with the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) on numerous research projects and also works closely with the Fraunhofer Institutes and other leading research institutes and universities all over the world.
